ABOUT MARIA GIERTTA
"... a million tiny sparkling choices..."
is a line out of a poem my friend wrote for my wedding. It refers to the many small choices that we make everyday in our life that lead us where we are today. This line feels so fitting to me as the small choice I made when I moved to London from Stockholm in Sweden to study instead of going to Brighton with my friends. This choice 9 or so years ago meant I met the man who is now my husband. It meant that I met a lot of people who are now my closest friends and it meant that started dabbling in making jewellery on an evening class in London. Since then I've become a qualified gemmologist, with the The Gemmological Association of Great Britain. (Gem-A information) and I design and make gem set precious metal jewellery in my studio in Sydney, Australia. The starting point of all my designs are a shape, and then I use gemstones and other design elements to enhance that shape.
